What Customers Say About Samsung NP-Q1UAP01/SEA 7-inch Ultra Mobile PC (Intel Core Solo U1500 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, Vista Business):

Windows Vista supports a touch screen which is helpful, but I can't scroll do with two fingers as I could do on an apple touch pad that would be very helpful. Mouse, who needs a mouse, just point on the screen with your index finger. There is a handy voice recognition program included that controls the device fairly well and do learn your speech as well. This little 2 lb handheld full windows vista touch screen device allows me to unobtrusively review all of my records with my patients both sitting and standing.

One touch internet connect button. I'm just amazed that the Ultra mobile PC hasn't caught on. I'm just not sure it's been marketed properly. All my IT guys didn't even know it existed and were amazed. Simply put, this device changes the way I practice medicine. I was looking for a device to review electronic medical records while seeing my patients. Can't wait to install Skype. Still I'll be able to install my voice recognition program and input data mainly by voice soon.

Keyboard on sides is small for my fingers and not backlit. I find windows business Vista quite complex to set up, I used an IT guy, but once configured it can do remarkable things. Samsung really needs to market this to doctors and anyone else that need a full computer in the field. I barely feel it's weight when I throw it in the bag. Two USB ports including one one the top, very convenient for plugging in a wireless 3G modem. Play netflix streaming movies without a hitch.

A notebook screen would have presented a barrier between me and my patients, and a desktop screen would have required me to turn my back. It's just that my Dragon medical 10 program recognizes voice so much better. Very handy fingerprint security sensor. It has a nice bright screen, great battery life, full integrated microphone, webcam, camera. I'll be able to review my records anywhere.

Definitely figure out what your storage needs are. I really wanted a smaller PC that I could travel with and would be fairly reliable. Tweak it, get the model with XP; do everything you can to get the speed to a point you can work with. It uses a different split on the keyboard than I'm used to (I'm used to the split being where the normal hand placement for the keys should be) so typing is an issue at times (use a usb keyboard for anything more than a sentence or two).I haven't run into an issue yet with this system and it can really pack a punch if you treat it right.

I love this pc's design over anything else I saw out there.Other things to note:- The battery life (generally 6 hours) is more than adequate for my needs away from a plugin.- If you're into it, there are some additional items for the UMPC. (Car charger, protective cases, etc).- The QWERTY keyboard layout is odd for me to use. So why not choose a UMPC with AMD. And yes you can go back and forth about AMD and Intel and this or that, but when it comes down to it I've had better experiences with AMD when it comes to my needs over Intel.

The hard drive is just small. It's Intel. I mainly do things like use Word or play games. This is slow out of the box. The processor.

I was able to get what I wanted on the system with about 30GB to spare to cycle out games and videos from time to time later on when I start running out of room. With a little work (in my case using vLite to kill some of Vista can do to a system) and some smart software choices, this can be an awesome miniature system. The major issues I've noticed with this comes from the hard drive and the processor. 80GB can be enough for some people.

For the first time I can consider myself a road warrior. Vista runs smoothly with the 2gb and it handles all what I need in a very satisfying way. I find this device almost perfect. I already took it to a congress outside my city and to a trip into the US (i'm from Chile) and for the first time I did not miss anything, because I had it all within this device.

I am a scientist and due to my work I need a great deal of mobility. My next purchase will be an extra 6-cell battery, but for now I can say that my expectations are completely fulfilled. I use foldershare in order to sync both computers, mozy for some cloud computing and the google pack for everything else. I got this device with an extra AC adapter (one for home and one for my lab), because are the main areas where I work and with the 6-cell battery I can get more than 6 hours without wifi.

I had to prepare a results discussion and I did the powerpoint presentation in the plane without any difficulty. I recommend it a 100%. I bought a cheap usb keyboard for paper writing and I can say that I dont need any more. The screen is really good, very bright, and although everyone tells me about how small is the 7inch screen, I find it totally aceptable for my work.

I dont think this device is for everyone. I use outlook 2007 and Onenote (my life for work). It is designed to write on like a tablet. But if you are like me and travel and go on jobsites and need blueprints and files and email (you know everything at the office) but want it right in front of you but dont want to whip out a laptop THIS IS FOR YOU. I have the Q1 Ultra which is the step down from this NEW faster processor model. I love this product.

This is the step between laptop and smartphone. I can do EVERYTHING I can do on my local desktop but in a very mobile place and with out the size of a laptop. No it is not a laptop replacement nor is it a desktop replacement. I have Vista Ultimate on mine and have no issues. One thing this does not come with though that I suggest is Microsoft Onenote 2007 it is MADE for a tablet and it really has brought tru digital organization to my business life. What it is, is a better functioning smart phone.

It then converts the writing to text very easily.

I purchased this item thinking it would be a nice substitute for my laptop when going on long trips but i was wrong. This thing has such tiny keys on it that you can't really get anything typed up without taking a long time. The keys are split on the left and right side of the device which looks like it would be easy to use judging from the photos of it but they are not.Creating word documents or typing a web address into the browser is a PAIN.If you have large (or normal size for that matter) hands you will come to hate the Q1 Ultra. It's not only the size of the keys but it's the size of them+the weight of the device that makes it very awkward to use.The other thing that makes this product horrible is the fact that it crashed at least 3 times in 1 day.Why.You ask.VISTA.That's why.Windows Vista is not made to be used on something like this. The Q1 Ultra's Cpu and Gpu simply are not good enough to make Vista Business run well.I am sure this thing would run MUCH better with XP.If you do get a Q1 make sure it doesn't have Vista on it.The only reason i gave this product 2 stars is because of the touch screen and the ability to simply write out words on it.All you do is touch the little symbol on the side of the screen and you can write out words in your own hand writing and then insert that into a word document or browser, very nice feature. If you are thinking of getting a child their first computer than this would be great for them because of their tiny hands but for adults,no.Super small keys,Vista crashes, slow bootup, there are many reasons why you should avoid this and just get a nice laptop for the same price.
